Mailing list

If you sign up to my mailing list, I will only use it for emailing you things I think are worth your time. I promise no spam. The list is not for sale, nor for use by anyone else. It is a vehicle of my uncontrollable ambition - and mine alone. The addresses stay with me. The mailing list is administered by me. There is an unsubscribe link in every email. I will routinely review the data I hold to make sure it's reasonable and proportionate. The buck stops with me: I am the registered data controller with the Information Commissioner's Office (ref: ZA766607). The mailing list could be used to control access to some parts of the site, and it is the underpinning of the commenting system (more on that below).

Cookies

This site tries to be privacy-minded. I have a cookie banner, but I have endeavoured to learn nothing about you that you do not explicitly tell me. The site uses Fathom so I can see if anyone is reading anything - but it does not tell me (or, indeed, any advertisers) anything about you. I do not get data on, for example, what browsers you are using or anything like that. The site uses a "magic link" login for commenting, which is a system using Ghost and Cove. The user images on Cove are powered by Gravatar. If you want to able to leave a comment but do not want to be on the mailing list, you can sign up to the email and verify your email and then stop the emails by clicking on the account section of the website.
